Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, is a premier institute of higher learning and research in the country. It has more than 40 departments/centres/units and nearly 450 faculty members pursuing research in many areas of science and engineering. Speciealised ME/MTech programmes are also conducted.
The Centre for Theoretical Studies pursues research in areas of theoretical high energy physics and phenomenology, quantum field theory, string theory, mathematical physics, interface areas between particle physics and nuclear physics/astrophysics. The present faculty of the Centre consists of N. Mukunda, J. Pasupathy, R. Godbole, D. Sen, A. Patel, G. Rangarajan, S. Jain and B. Ananthanarayan.
The Institute welcomes applications from bright and motivated Indian nationals, with an established record of independent, high quality research and commitment to teaching for positions of Assistant Professors in all disciplines of interest to the institute in Science and Engineering. The prospective candidates must have a Ph. D. (in the relevant areas) with three years of post-doctoral research experience (relaxable in exceptional cases), and be preferably below 35 years of age. The salary will be in the grade of Rs.12000-420-18300 per month plus allowances.
