Dipole Magnet

Magnet Dimensions:

·  Pole piece diameter = 26.5 cm

·  Distance between poles = 10.2 cm (midplane @ 5.1 cm)

Power Supply:

·  G156DH, Power Ten Inc. (S/N 010480)

Calibration

·  Here is a recent calibration of the magnetic field. Probes 2 and 3 are used for the whole range.

Cooling system:

·  Each pole of the magnet is connected to a pair of hoses that drive the water in and out.

·  Kapton window to catcher foil distance
20 cm

The following is the first measurements to map the magnetic field in the old Hunter's Point Magnet. Data are probably obsolete and are included here for completeness.

Fringing field in the Hunter's Pt. magnet. Midplane to pole faces. Magnet set @110 Amp (0.4 T). Hall probe (STR8-0402 S/N 237045 (Bell Inc). Gaussmeter model 611HAB (Bell Inc.) Background was determined at 6.4 Gauss. Reference point was the TC gauge. Measurements were along the A1200 beam line. See diagram below.
